Customs Clearance

VISA’s Customs Brokerage division employs licensed Customs Brokers and Quarantine accredited staff nationally.

The brokerage system is electronically linked to the Australian Customs Service and all port container terminals for cargo reporting and clearance of both ocean and air freight consignments.

This division is fully integrated with our transport division enabling delivery to be planned from the day the clearance process begins.

VISA’s professional customs staff manage compliance strategies with clients that include:

  • Accurately determining duty liability
  • Minimising compliance risks and costs
  • Identifying opportunities for refunds and drawbacks of duty in addition to providing the usual suite of clearance services. Our Customs Brokerage also provides clients with:
    • AQIS advice and Quarantine accreditation
    • Tariff Consultancy
    • Tariff Concession Applications
    • GST advice
    • Drawback claims (exports)
    • Landed costings
    • Management reporting data
    • AAT representation
    • Barrier (trademarks etc) consultancy

In 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2010 VISA won the Customs Brokers and Forwarders Council of Australia Inc (CBFCA) award for commitment and contribution to the industry.

VISA has Senior Audit Brokers who independently check the work of all our Brokers and identify areas in relation to duties and taxes where money can be saved for our clients.

This role includes maintaining a watch over the local manufacturing industry in comparison to imported goods and identifying when it may be beneficial to apply for a tariff concession for an imported product. Our integrated import/export clearance databases allow for accurate management of any duty drawback claims ensuring the greatest possible duty recovery. In our Melbourne office alone our Brokers have a combined experience of over 100 years in the industry.
